2012...

so 2012 in dolly terms...

So my 12 wishes were:

  1. a body for Veja
  2. bodies for Pax and Nox
  3. RealPuki Aki
  4. PKF Sweet Bunny Bonnie (WS)
  5. PKF WS Zoe
  6. LTF Elf El
  7. MNF Tanning Lishe
  8. MNF Mirwen
  9. MNF Seorin
  10. Delf Tanning Lishe
  11. F65 Chloe
  12. Custom Blythe
Did I get everything I wished for? Hell no, but then I never expected to! I did fulfil a few of my wishes,  4 in total: the bodies for Veja, Nox and Pax - buying a RealPuki Aki and having a delightful person sell me their beautiful MNF Tanning Lishe. Plus I paid off an received my two SOOMs - the Clozel and the Arkose. (quicker than expected.) and I other than that I have had a SOOM-free year... lucky they stopped doing MDs. I also finally got Arum Mk III, who has been in the planning stages for a while.

So the expected arrivals and completions this year are as follows:
  1. Vesna - SM Clozel
  2. Rasmus - SM Arkose
  3. Ankou - Real Puki Aki
  4. Veja - Real Puki Sugar
  5. Pax - MNF VE Chloe
  6. Nox - MNF Eliya
  7. Arum - DZ Stramonium
The Surprise dolls this year, ironically enough (for those who have arrived) were all Lishes!
  1. Magna Dea - MNF Tanning Lishe
  2. Sulis - new release F60 WS Lishe
  3. Aveta - Delf Art My Dear Lady Lishe
Then there were the two event heads, who I originally wasn't planning on keeping:
  1. Mor Mumain - F60 Nanuri A
  2. Nic Naomhim - F60 Nanuri A
They should have their bodies soon enough - I'm still amazed that they haven't been shipped yet, considering how fast Sulis arrived.

And 2012 was the year of the Blythe, I picked up four... All stock though, no customs. (whoops, forgot to get a shot of Corrigan into my mosaic!!)

  1. Magnolia - Very Vicky
  2. Jet - Simply Mango
  3. Devlin - Love Mission
  4. Corrigan - Gentle River

And to top the year off, Fairyland and CP release not one, but two Itals - the new name for the BA - a Chicline - along with the CL Chloe (who is beautiful) and an F65 version with three heads... when it rains, it really pours. So heading into 2013 - I have paid one installment on my two new Chiclines - an Ital and a Chloe, both fullsets. With them I get two Chicline Nanuri heads (which won't stay) and hopefully I'll get the F65 Scar Ital (eye) head along with it since I spent enough.

Then I'm looking to get an F65 Ital, probably in basic, but I might have to capitulate and get his fullset to make sure I can get the Scar Ital (nose) head since there aren't many splits going (currently there's one) where I can get his scar nose head. I have yet to decide if these three heads means that I will end up with three F65 Itals... (its always a possibility.)

So that was the year in dolls - admittedly I left out the kerfuffle over the F60 Scar Ital, which was replaced with a F60 version of the Juri 05. If you want an original modded Juri 05 or a new F60 Juri 2012, tell me, I now have two to get rid of. (somehow I think the profusion of Itals is FL/CP making up for the fact they gave over to the complainers over the F60 Juri 05/Scar Ital kerfuffle. I still want my F60 Scar Ital... or basic Ital. And always will.)

OMG OMG OMG!

I thought I was overly safe from Fairyland events recently (other than of course for the kerfuffle over the Juri head...) But now Fairyland/CP have lived up to their reputation and completely done me in.

This was the twitter release:

FYI, FL is no longer able to use the sculpt name 'Breakaway'. 'Ital' is the original Korean name that had been translated into ENG as BA.

*sighs* I did originally see the BA in the release of the teaser shots, but forgot about it when they called him "Ital"... but now Fairyland has really done my biscuit.

So I can see myself buying three new dolls - the Chicline Chloe (cause she's beautiful), AND the Chicline Ital (BA) and the F65 Ital (BA)... I damn well hope they're doing a basic version!!

Chicline Ital (BA)

Fairyland Event cont

I just know that I'll be posting again tomorrow when the details finally come out (and when the identity of the F65 boy is finally released - I still see BA when I look at him)... but FL/CP finally released some new teasers... this time of the Chiclines, which are listed (along with the F65 Lord of the Ice) as 68 limited sets.

So there are two new Chiclines - but one sculpt that's appeared in everything else!

The boy is a new new sculpt - Ital.

And Chloe... which looks so good I think I'll be planning for a new Chicline girl...

Angel Toast does it again!

I cannot sing AngelToast's praises high enough. Not only have I been hearing stories of faceups which take months (literally about 3 months before the first head is started!!), when AT is telling me my November kiddies are done and answering questions about a completely un-related doll question at the time!

This time, I sent the Horrible Three - Hades, Poseidon and Zeus, to AT so that they'd finally be finished rather than sitting in various stages of incompleteness (only Hades' had a finished face up) and just not looking right!

This is what the boys used to look like:

This is what they look like now: (Their faceups are based on Arawn's Midnight Blue)

I almost can't believe just how fantastic they look! AT has outdone herself once again!

I also got lucky and was able to snag a spot during November for my two Nanuri As - to have their eyes opened, faceups done and in Mor's case, her ears pierced. Their photos also came back.

The girls look fantastic and I love the expression on Mor Mumain's face, it almost makes her look like Vesna!

The temptation is now of course, to have AT redo all of my non-default dolls... oh so tempting! But the most tempting is to have my final BA's face up redone so that he matches his brother. But, if Vulcan has his faceup redone, that means his twin brother Gallagher has to have his done as well! (G of course belongs to my friend LK, so she would have to agree too.)

Yesterday, while I was handing over another AT masterpiece to LK for her birthday, I mentioned this, and she is happy to have G's faceup redone by AT!

So watch this space, V is going to get himself a new face up, and new tatts!

Fairyland Event

Ah Fairyland...

Dear customers,

We are happy to announce that Fairyland will have a Winter Event on December 21.

There are new dolls - FeePle65 and ChicLine - planned to be released on the same day.

Detailed information will be released on December 21.

Thank you.

Interestingly enough, they've caved to pressure again and are doing something for the F65 and Chicline this time.

I do like both Chiclines and F65s, but at the same time I'm not overly fond of a lot of the sculpts which have been released in these two sizes.

I did start writing this a day or so ago and there has already been a teaser shot...

His title currently is "Lord of the Ice" and he's the new F65 boy.
Now, due to other developments (see next post) I've had BA on the brain today, and that's what I can see in this boy's face. The eyes and the nose fit and there is a possibility that he has an open mouth. If he is a BA (and I could be wrong, like I have before), I'll be dead and the new owner of an F65...

I'm not massively stressed about that though I have to admit. Otherwise, I love the arm, it looks really cool and I bet he'll be released with a normal arm too. plus the faceup looks interesting, although I'd like to see him without the blur to have a look at that scar? on his face.

Can't wait to see what the other F65 looks like - will it be a Mirwen? Lishe? There was a hint about popular sculpts on the twitter feed, which suggests that the new releases will be "older" sculpts. If the girl is a Lishe, I'll also be dead.

As for the Chicline, I already have a Lishe and an El... BA is unlikely because of the CL/LTF release - but could it be Shiwoo, Chiwoo? Chloe or Mirwen maybe?

Who do you think it could be?

Note: Who does the hand in the front of the shot belong too? Those are very feminine fingers and in a very awkward position if that is his hand/arm...

Arrivals and wig dilemmas.

So if you're a follower of my Lished blog, you'd know about the arrival of Aveta, my Delf Art Dear My Lady Lishe. She is a simply stunning girl and I am not stressing at all about having a cabinet baby (as one in 5, she's earnt her right)... not hardly... she went back in her box at the end of her box opening, nicely encased in cushions and a face protector... (I'll be back over there adding photos like mad soon!)

She did raise a problem though - which lead me to heading onto Leekeworld's website. I was there not so long ago, looking for wigs for my two Nanuri As, Mor Mumain and Nic Naomhim... unfortunately Leeke being Leeke, the wigs still haven't shipped!

So Mor Mumain and Nic Naomhim headed off to AngelToast for their faceups, along with my Horrible Three - Hades, Poseidon and Zeus, with me still without a good idea what they are going to look like with these wigs...

However, Leeke has thrown me up a dilemma. (above and beyond the dilemma I have with Aveta). They, as usual, as in the process of having a limited wig event. I love limited Leeke wig events... a large proportion of my doll collection is or has worn Leeke wigs and a large number of those are limited colour or limited designs - for example: Pallus, Arawn, Magnus, Marcheline, Nemain, Bellona Lua (was), Hades, Poseidon, Zeus, Ianthe (used to)....

This is the wig I originally chose for Mor and Nic:

It's an Art wig, and it didn't give me the choice to pick the colours, so I'm not really sure what I'm getting! But I knew I was keeping Mor when I put her head on Morrigan's body and added Morrigan's short wig, so that was why I leant towards a short wig. Plus the chance of being able to see the girl's elf ears through their wigs is a cute proposition!

That was all going well, until I spotted this wig:

It's longer than the other wig, definitely not a bob, and I'd buy it exactly like the photo, in Natural Black and Red Wine which would put it roughly the same sort of colour as many of the darlings I have already (Hades' wig is classified as wine, as is Marcheline's.). The problem I have is as soon as I saw it (and it was plaited into two fat plats for the preview photo) I thought how fantastic the colour would look on my girls.

Darn it Leeke... so do I buy 2 of the new wig for the girls and just get rid of the other two when they arrive... or do I have the problem of buying 2 of this wig and still having the chance that the other wig will look better??

Argh. Any thoughts?

Event head Juri 2012 continued.

It could have been...

Received this response from the FL Twitter rep:
:'-( I'm so sorry. I didn't had time to speak to CP about the event head but I think he went ahead with the change anyway after reading some comments about the scar head. The original head they were sculpting was Scar Breakaway btw, but 'scar' items weren't so popular event gifts at the time when we were giving them out compared to non-scarred items also available at same time. Anyway, the new Juri should resemble the old Juri, but it isn't the same head, coz seems like they lost the original Juri05 master head, so they had to resculpt the whole head from scratch.

What does this tell me? *sighs* If people weren't so annoyed when they didn't get what they want, then CP wouldn't have changed his mind and I would happily be awaiting my brand new BA to help complete my BA collection...

Interestingly, I can't remember a scar event head, either BA or Shiwoo, being released with a non-scarred event head. So I'm not sure where that information came from. The Scar BA was released with... the Scar Shiwoo... and then as the only event head available...

I'll correct myself. The Scar BA and Scar Shiwoo were released with the LTF Wink Ante... and the Puki Puki Pumpkin head. Then the Scar BA sleeping head was released with the LTF Fox, the PKF Seal and the Puki Bear... I'm sorry, other than perhaps a winking Ante, which wasn't uber popular, as wink heads never really have been, I can't see the argument.

I then got this from the Admin at the 1:1 site:
Thank you for your interest in our FairyLand dolls. The originally planned head was Scar Breakaway head but we cannot be certain about what will happen with it. We may hope to see it perhaps in possible future event but this cannot be guaranteed. Our apologies for the inconveniences.

Kind Regards,FairyLand

So I might never see a Scar BA in F60. Like I thought, it might be completely canned, destroyed, etc. CP tends to do that I have a feeling - it was after all the fate of the MNF Tanning Shiwoo if they hadn't allowed Luts to sell them, they were going to destroy them.

What I did find interesting was the twitter rep's comment about the Juri 05/12. They lost the master mold, so resculpted the head to match the old one. They didn't update the sculpt... they just remade the old one.

It does answer the niggling thing I had about the lips - I thought it was photography when I thought it was a recast, but the newer one has closed lips, the older one has a slightly open mouth. Only difference I can see. But interesting to note since a lot of people have been complaining (interestingly enough) that the head wasn't updated... but then you didn't ask for it updated. You asked for the old one, so they gave you what you wanted.

Very interested to see how many extra heads join the current 6 unmodded and 2 modded Juri 05s on the MP... so many for such a popular event head.

F60 Juri 2012 :(

Someone mentioned that they had released the photo for the F60 Juri 2012 release on DoA today... Their photo didn’t load, so I eagerly went to the site to check the photo, although the description of “cute” didn’t inspire me.

I waited for the photo to load, wondering if it was the Shiwoo or the BA... Excited. Then it loaded.

Not excited anymore. It’s a recast of the Juri 05. So disappointed that the complainers won.

Why am I so disappointed? Well, other than the fact it is clearly just a recast of the original Juri 05 - clearly evident by the small, original elf ears still on the head, rather than the newer, longer elf ears they have been creating lately - it shows that Fairyland and CP are willing to be bossed around by those who are the loudest simply because they think they are entitled to what they want, rather than those who actually appreciate the other sculpts. And because it shows that this WASN’T the original choice for the Juri head. Otherwise, those ears would have been updated in keeping with the current styling.

Well. I hope they’re happy - the complainers that is, although all those who argued that the MNF Juri 08 and the Juri 05 are two COMPLETELY different sculpts - even though the changes are exactly the same as what you’d find between a 60cm and MNF version of any other sculpt...

Already have people questioning it. *sigh*

Reasons why I think its the old Juri 05:
  1. CP have been sculpting longer Elf ears in all sizes possible - Minifee, F60, F70 and F65 since at least 2008...
  2. The last two Elf releases in the F60 size have long ears: the Nanuri A and the Nanuri B.
  3. The complainers were all going nuts about apparently the MNF Juri 08 being the most popular event head... But then we’re not their biggest customer base and their largest customer base probably wouldn’t complain
  4. Was the MNF Juri 08 REALLY the most popular? I wasn’t in the hobby in 08, but I have a feeling she’s much more popular on the secondhand market than she was when she was released as an event head, especially since they wouldn’t have limited the number of heads. Plus, if she had been the more popular you’d think there would be more of them around rather than less.
  5. The English speaking community would be a small fraction of their market.
  6. The fact that complaints were loudest from a small number of people (I personally dislike this particular set of Juris. Ick.) does not mean they immediately changed their mind.
  7. It does not take that much to change the ears on an old sculpt, and knowing CP, they would have spent as much time designing and sculpting the F60 Juri 2012 as they would anything else and therefore NOT updating the ears points to a rush job.
  8. And just to hammer it down... If the Juri 05 had been the original head... Why doesn’t the cutout teaser have elf ears??
Nanuri A & B teaser with the Elf-ear-less Juri 2012 teaser

Final Nanuri A & B releases, with Elf Ears... and the F60 Juri 2012, now with Elf ears.

In some ways this reminds me of the LTF Pong - they made it for people... But they didn’t buy it. It will be interesting to see if the MP gets flooded with F60 Juri 12s. I know I’ll be selling mine.

What will be interesting however. Currently there are very few unmodded Juri 05s around and there were two on the MP for MONTHS, unbought, just sitting there. They are very rare in the unmodded form, and yet no one bought these two.

Plus, the new release just devalues any other Juri 05s that anyone else has, especially since there is no difference between this F60 Juri 12 and the old Juri 05. I’m sure by the time I’ve got mine I still won’t have sold my modded Juri 05 (who’s been on sale for probably about 6 months but more realistically for probably over a year) so I’ll be able to compare them and show once and for all that this new one is just a recast.

Overall, I’m annoyed that the complainers have spoilt this event for me. It doesn’t matter that there’s always a possibility for another event, that means there’s always another possibility for some idiot to complain and wreck yet another event for me.

I’m sick of this particular Juri face to be honest. There’s the 05, the 08, the kissy faced 10, the Multihead version... I’m sick of it in the same way I’m sick of Chiwoos. There are so many Chiwoo releases. I’m also starting to get a bit sick of the Chloe, even though she is a nice sculpt.

I want to have a new BA or even a new Shiwoo, even though I doubt I’d keep it. I’d like an updated Elf version of a Lishe or a El... Or an Elf BA would be nice. I’d like to see my favourite sculpts getting some time.

And I’d LOVE to see those complainers realising that perhaps what they like ISN’T what everyone else does.

Thanks guys for throughly wreaking an event I was looking forward to. Cheers.

BTW - for such a rare and wanted sculpt, I have just counted 6 unmodded Juri 05s for sale on DoA as well as 2 modded ones... For a popular sculpt I would expect maybe one... if you were lucky. Not six. Where are all the eager collectors?

New vs Old

Today I noticed a lot of developments and chat in the "Luts Delf Thread" (which is of course void now that the 60cms are back with CP and Fairyland, rather than with Luts) as a opposed to the Fairyland F60 thread.

Apparently Luts are releasing a new 60cm line which is going to have the name "Delf".  I don't blame them, now the line has been restarted by CP and renamed, then there is technically no doll named "Delf" anymore, and it leaves Luts free to use it instead. (and probably use the publicity this name will yield.)

There was of course the thought that they might be releasing the old dolls... with Luts resin...

Some people can be a bit silly. CP, owning the rights to their 60cm line, has released it and considering it was never cast in the same resin as any of the Luts dolls, it can be said that it was never cast by Luts either, so Luts never had the molds. Plus it would cause a heap of litigation if Luts even tried to sell something which they no longer had the rights to sell. No, the "Just forget how they were" points to a brand new line which just happens to share a name with a line which no longer exists.

It did then start up another discussion in the now defunct "Delf" discussion. What should the thread be called and should it or shouldn't it be merged with the F60 thread.

And it brought up a lot of silliness. There are people who consider the 60cm line produced by CP as two completely different sets of dolls. Which is almost like saying there should be two different MNF threads - one for B-lines (and those heads cast with the B-line dolls) and one for A-lines. Because to be honest, the difference in the older 60cm body and the newer 60cm body is the difference between a B-line MNF and an A-line MNF in pretty much exactly the same way.

But no, F60s don't have the same "history" as those which were released by Luts. You can't have the same conversations about resin colour and head size (which is crap, because the F60 thread has already had that conversation and continues to have that conversation.)

The one which got me was the one who didn't consider the new heads to be the same heads as the old heads. They used the word original, which got my back up.

CP released the Lishe and the El as two of the F60 heads - they are two of the oldest sculpts in CP's lineup, only the Shiwoo and Chiwoo are older. (and I always forget if Shiwoo or Chiwoo came first, I think it was Chiwoo). They are iconic sculpts, with all the "history" and originality you could want.

I do not consider my F60 Lishe to be any less than any of my other Lishes, released when Luts had the line. I do not think because there is an "F60" at the front, that she is worth any less. Considering that they are using the same mold as used for the older Lishe heads, how could I possibly? She might not be as rare or expensive as some of my Elf releases, but the same could be said for any of the "basic" releases of ANY of the sculpts as opposed to their limited releases.

Just because the word used in front is different and suddenly you're claiming a different body - does it change? If my MNF Tanning Lishe was NS, would she be worth more because she's a B-line as opposed to my A-line MNF Lishe? No, and no one would dare to say that B-lines are more important than A-lines or that they have more "history" or are "original" as opposed to the other sculpts - possibly only because there wasn't a six year gap and a fight in order to update their bodies.

I also think that we are devaluing CP when we say that their outdated (and possibly embarrassing) bodies and heads are more important than their updated ones. I've said this before, CP obviously is proud of it's bodies and most particularly, their engineering. Just look at the incredible F65 and Chicline. Look at the proven and boasted (by proud owners) posability of the MNF A-line. Look at the double jointing and posability of a 9.5cm Real Puki.

How could they be as proud of the old Type 1 and Type 2 bodies, especially for the female 60cms, with the limited posing, the single joints and the old style? I know artists (a few professionals) and often their old stuff is hard to look at and cope with. It shows their mistakes. It shows them how far they've come and knowing CP, they wouldn't want their customers having to put up with old outdated bodies. I know they released the F60s with anticipation and were incredibly disappointed by the reaction of die-hard fans to the new bodies.

I think we're all getting a little bit precious. CP love their old sculpts, but they don't view the "Delfs" as any better than the F60s, in fact I'd say they view the F60 as better because of the bodies and the fact that they can finally sell them where they should be, with the rest of their lines.

Plus I think its ridiculous to draw a line in the sand and say that one set of 60cms are better than the others. They haven't changed anything about the new F60s, except they did what everyone wanted them to do - brought out the A-line version, probably about 6 years later than they wanted.

Does the name really matter all that much? I'd be happy to change all of my old "Delfs" to F60s. After all, that is the name they have now. That is the name which tells everyone that they belong to CP. And that shows that they do not and have never really belonged to Luts, and to be honest, I prefer that.

Now I've had my rant, I'm going back to dreaming about the possibility of a new Limited Breakaway. (or a Shiwoo, who knows?) I will keep them happily and consider them just as "original" as all the others.

Developments...

Ah CP...

I definitely have a love-hate relationship with CP - I LOVE their work... I'm not a fan necessarily of how they string us out and tease us, although its not necessarily a bad thing!

I made my order today - and paid it. Two new F60 bodies for Mor Mumain and Nic Naomhim (my Nanuri As), which means I need to get to it and get them on a list for eye-modding and face-uping. I have also ordered them their wigs from Leeke, I was originally going to get wigs similar to Morrigan's from Luts, but saw a cute bob wig from Leeke with a streak in it, so went with that instead. The way my luck is going, the bodies will get here before the wigs do! (though also probably before I get their eyes and faceups done!!)

I have some very definite ideas about these two - I was thinking of having Mor Mumain's ears pierced - one with one earring and the other all the way up the edge, so maybe six or seven rings. She is also going to have half opened eyes, while her sister, Nic Naomhim, will have hers fully opened. I was also going to have their faceups different, in much the same way as Pax and Nox's differ-  one with more pink (Nic) and one with more red (Mor).

As well as those two, I of course put in to get the F60 Juri 12 head, even though I don't know which of the two scar boys it will be. If it's a Shiwoo, then I'm sure I can find a home for him. LK is getting one too, and there's always a chance if he's a BA for  twins... I seem to have multiplying event heads after all!

So the last time I ordered in full from FL, with Sulis - I ordered her towards the end of July and she appeared in early August - a turn around of not even a month. I'm crossing my fingers that the bodies come that quickly too, because the quicker they mail them, the quicker we find out which head it is!!

In other news, I have just paid off a Blythe Gentle River (really the only stock Blythe I like) and she's on shipping! (woo!) But I don't have a name for her... My Blythes really have a rock/pop music theme going and I really need that kind of name for my Gentle River - so currently I have Magnolia, Jet and Devlin... so if you can think of a rock/pop style name, please tell me! I'll take any and all suggestions!

Fairyland...

Oh Fairyland, Fairyland Fairyland... Or should that be oh CP?

The darlings have once again released another event for their 10th Anniversary... and this time its F60 bodies...

I immediately thought that it solved my problem about bodies for my two Nanuri As - I can buy them both F60 bodies now and be done with it!

But of course, being Fairyland/CP - that was not the end of the annoucement... they are also releasing a Feeple Juri head... Originally, because they phrased it as the most popular MNF Juri head, I expected it to be the MNF Juri 08, which is arguably the most popular of the MNF heads called "Juri"s.

But then I always forget that any limited head which is released by CP is either a Nanuri or a Juri, whichever sculpt it is.

And on twitter it has been revealed that it is a scarred head - which limits it to two releases: the Scarred Breakaway or the Scarred Shiwoo.

This leaves me in a pretty pickle. If it is a Breakaway, I must have it to complete my collection! If it's a Shiwoo, its not necessarily bad, as such, but its the chance, the possibility.

I have not been particularly amused by some conversations I'm participating in (and may have recently gotten a little short), but I think that people don't see the wider picture.

People have been saying that just because they don't think the Scar BA and Scar Shiwoo were popular, that the head is useless. What can they do with a scar head after all? It wasn't as popular as this head...

A couple of facts:

  1.  The Breakaway has been released the most times of any limited releases (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). He has been released:
    1. Three times as a Limited Delf, each time with 2-3 heads, most of the sleeping heads are vampires.
    2. Once as a limited F70 - with two versions.
    3. Twice as a limited MNF - and was the only MNF head to be released as both an OE and a sleeping head.
    4. Once as a multihead - CL/LTF.
    5. That is a total of 8 times, in (technically) 4 sizes. He is available, if you can find him, in 60cm/70cm: OE, Sleeping Vampire, Sleeping and Dreaming - most 60cm heads are available in EITHER Sleeping or Dreaming, but not both; MNF - both OE and sleeping Scarred, and in LTF/CL.
  2. The Shiwoo has been released in the most sizes of any CP sculpt and is one of the original (and most popular) of all the CP sculpts released.
    1. He has been released as a limited in 4 sizes - 60cm, MNF, LTF and Multihead.
    2. He was available in 6 basic sizes before the sale of the Delfs stopped - 60cm OE, Dreaming and Dreaming Vampire; MNF; LTF and Pukifee.
    3. There are 8 limited releases of a Shiwoo: 60cm - Elf, Tanning, Cyber Bohemian (limited faceup); MNF - Scar, Elf and Elf Vampire; LTF Elf; Multihead Dreaming Elf Vampire
    4. There are also 3 Delf Art releases of the Shiwoo - the MNF Tanning (5); the Prince of Darkness (4) and the Delf Vampire Shiwoo.
    5. That means, if you can find them, there is a total of 14 different heads (2 of them with different resin) that you are able to get a Shiwoo in.
Obviously there is a reason these sculpts keep getting remade in different versions over and over again. Could it possibly be because they're popular?

It's been a while

Mainly because over the school break I went away to visit my parents (who currently live in another country). So I will have to share a few photos when I get a chance.

But I thought to do a bit of an update!

There are no new dolls... which is a good thing rather than a bad thing I suppose at the moment! But there is still two incoming - Arum, my DZ Stramonium, and Aveta, my Delf Art My Dear Lady Lishe. Not sure when Arum is coming, but Aveta still has 2 months left on her layaway. Then I will probably have to find some kind of case or cupboard for her - I don't like cabinent babies as a rule, but I think with her I really need to keep her safe!

In other news, I've finally organised faceups for the Horrible Three, and they'll be heading off once everything has been finalised. Then its just a matter of getting Arum done properly, as well as the twins - Mor Mumain and Nic Noamhim, eyes opened and faceups done. Still not sure if I want to get those two F60 or F70 bodies.

So we're getting ready to wave the Horrible Three goodbye for a while... not that anyone is particularly upset by this development...

Money money money

I think many people in this hobby forget that like any business, the doll business is driven by money. Fairyland, like SOOM and any other doll company is there to make money. The actual artists themselves might be have some artistic integrity and want to please people, but the companies who sell the dolls are there to make money.

I originally thought of this post because I was told that we couldn’t be ‘sure’ that Fairyland would release the F60 Mirwen.
I was sure we could, for the following reasons:

  1. when the VF doll was released there was a LOT of customers and fans constantly asking Fairyland when the doll was going to sold because they wanted one. These questions kept coming and coming and coming even after they told people that they would not be selling the doll, that it had nothing to do with them and was a deal between CP and Yamato USA/Japan.
  2. They sold the MNF Mirwen and still the questions kept coming - I think you'll also find that the MNF Mirwen has sold rather well, not only because it is the VF doll sculpt but also because it reminds people of the older CP sculpts.
  3. The number of people asking FL and CP for a 60cm doll has been enormous - even though the 60cm doll was sold though Luts, people kept asking. You can see that in any of the messages where they address it in their blog before and after the release of both the CL and the F65.
  4. Combine the number of people who want an F60 and the number of people who want a version of the VF doll, and you have a large number of customers and a potential of a heap of money for an F60 Mirwen.

So why wouldn't a company sell a doll that has the potential for making them a whole lot of money and quite quickly? It's one reason I knew Luts wouldn't willingly hand the Delfs back, simply because they have proven themselves to be a money maker.

Some people I think almost see doll companies as not-for-profits, making dolls for artistic merit and because they look good. No, doll companies sell dolls to make money. And lots of it.

I was surprised when SOOM stopped selling its massively lucrative Monthly Dolls - but then I realised the possible reason why - keeping up with a doll a month became too difficult, without that line they can keep making the same types of dolls and release them any time they like! (and possibly still make the same amounts of money, although I don't think they've released any super popular ones recently... the Teenie Gem Isaac might be an exception to the current rule).

Unfortunately I think one down side of not realising dolls once a month means that those people who collected SOOM MDs and got used to checking the SOOM page once a month for the new doll don't necessarily do that anymore. I used to and I only randomly have a look at the SOOM page nowadays, no where near as often as I used to, and I haven't bought anything from SOOM since their last MD.

What brought this subject up for me again now is the situation with the Chic lines; and the muttering from the F65 thread about no updates for them when there are plenty of updates for the brand new F60.

Chicline

The Chiclines have been off sale for a while, mainly because (and as usual this is my reading of the situation and communications from Fairyland/CP):
  1. they are difficult to make and restring and this affects their price
  2. Fairyland seems unwilling to offer them at the price which would make  them financially viable (possibly because then they’d have to deal with all the complaints that they’re “too expensive”).
  3. From the sounds of it they were only receiving single orders or not enough to pay for the casting and production.

In response to inquiries, they have made the following concession on the sale of the Chic-lines - they will produce them for a limited time, but only if they get 20 of each body ordered (obviously therefore enough to make them a profit rather than making a loss).

This has gotten a lot of muttering, especially in that people want them to release new heads first. I would suggest that perhaps the lack of sales previously when they released two new heads - the Ineffa and the Fabilis, coupled with the price of casting, producing and stringing them, makes it financially unviable for them to continue to offer the line.

After all, why would you continue to produce a doll which doesn’t sell and you spend more money on the production of, rather than making a profit?

Yes, Chiclines, like F65s show the full artistic and engineering skills of CP, but how many people buy them for that reason? They’re a bit of a difficult size for many to deal with and that could affect their sales too!

FeePle 65 v FeePle 60

I had a lot of this conversation when I was talking about the new F60 line not simply being a remake of a 5-cm shorter F65. However, now the comments are slightly different.

The F60 was released a couple of months ago (In July to be precise) with six heads - three of which had to be created for the new line - the Chloe, the Karsh and the Luka, all of whom are also MNF heads, the other three just had to be recast - the Mirwen had been made for over a year and the Lishe and El have been around for years - all three have always been in 60cm size (the Nanuri A & B are simply elf ears added to the Chloe and Karsh sculpts). Just last week, the F60 al a carte was update with another six heads, of which only 2 had to be sculpted - the Roke and the Siean, both originally F65 sculpts. The others - Rona and Anu were originally F70 heads, which is the same size as an F60 head, and the Miyu and Yder are both older 60cm heads.

This of course restarted and intensified the debate about the F65s getting al a carte and the lack of F65 heads - they have five: Chloe, Roke, Siean, Lora and Lorence, plus the Juri 2012. Most F65 enthusiasts, and we allow for a small amount of bias, can’t understand why there are not more heads and an al a carte option for the F65s, when there is already 12 heads for the F60s as well as the al a carte option.

I will offer the following possible reasons. (feel free to disagree, as usual) - I am sure I have offered some of this reasoning when I commented on the unlikelyhood of the F60s being mini F65s...:

  1. The F65s, while sculpturally brilliant, don’t sell particularly well. This could be because:
    1. A lot of people prefer 60cm (usually approximately 58cm) and shorter
    2. They are so unlike CP’s usual aesthetic that most enthusiasts don’t have them (same goes for the Chic-line)
    3. The weight and width of the sculpts and the bodies are not massively popular.
    4. There are no recognizable heads like the Lishe/El/Shiwoo/Chiwoo etc. (and I deliberately don’t include the Chloe because she doesn’t have the age of previous sculpts behind her)

  1. The sales of the Chiclines have put them off releasing more heads in the F65 size, especially with those of the recognizable category-  Lishe, El and DES
  2. The reception to the new heads - Roke, Siean, Lora and Lorence - has not been what they expected and the sales have not increased
  3. The Delfs have been a long time money maker and they have a sentimental attachment to them
  4. The reception to the F60s and their capitulation to produce an al a carte option early has paid off financially.
  5. The heads they released did not have to resculpted, just re-cast. (and there is a suggestion that the Roke and Siean had already been sculpted prior to the release of the F60s.) Any heads they want to produce for the F65 line MUST be resculpted from scratch to meet that aesthetic.
  6. There are 18 Delf heads and 7 F70 heads which they can re-release in the F60 line with no extra fuss; and 13 MNF heads which they can upsize with not too much trouble.
  7. The number of Delf/F70 sculpts which can just be re-released is immense and the interest and inquiries about sculpts not yet released is very high.
  8. Requests about resculpting smaller sizes is often in relation to getting a 60cm version (in the same aesthetic) as the current sculpt: i.e. An F60 Rheia.

I don’t think I’ve covered everything I think about this, but at the same time, there’s probably only one that matters to Fairyland... The F60s make them more money than the F65s.

For those interested, the 18 Delf, 7 F70 and 13 MNF heads are as follows (if I’ve forgotten one I apologize).
Delf: Edgar, Jess, Kum-ran, IF, Shine, Dambi, Moon, Shiwoo, Dark Human Soo, Dark Elf Soo, Angel Elf Soo, Soo, Soony, Chiwoo, Woosoo, Breakaway, Lu-wen, Harang
F70: Iden, Riff, Ashley, Cali, Peavy, Dreaming Vampire Moon, Esther
MNF: Ari, Shushu, Ruth, Marcia, Ryeon, Seorin, Carl, Rheia, Eliya, Kyle, Rena, Rix

F60 final

So I never finished the story.

I did end up purchasing an F60 and unllike me, I paid in full for it with Fairyland. So I sat in to wait - I bought a wig from Leekeworld which I full expected would arrive before my doll. I also put in for the Nanuri A head, since I figured that if I didn't like it, then I could always sell it on.

So I settled down to wait.

A week or so after the release (I had bought on the second day) I heard about someone who had received a shipping notice. I was very skeptical as usually, for those who don't know, a shipping notice isn't issued until after the 40 business day mark, or about 3-4 months.

I thought this girl must be wrong, since it was little over a week or two after the order date. But, she was right and she got her doll quite quickly - and it wasn't a fluke, others who had paid received their dolls just as quickly.

I now saw that it was highly likely that I too would get my doll earlier than I ever expected. I did get the "before shipping" notification quite quickly and the shipping notice even quicker.

But unfortunately my girl took quite a while in the shipping.  She was shipped and then took about 7 days to make it to the house.

I believe (from what I read on DoA) that I got the first Lishe... how fun is that?

Her name is Sulis - and along with her I received the event head, a Nanuri A - originally I wasn't really planning on keeping her, but then I took a photo of her wearing Morrigan's wig and she stuck...

This is Mor Mumain... and you know how this dolly stuff works - I noticed another Nanuri A for sale. Well, everyone knows how dolly impulse buying goes - Mor Mumain now has an identical twin sister called Nic Naomhim - I received her just yesterday. I'm planning on getting their eyes modded - one to fully open and the other to half open. Mor is most likely going to get a similar wig to Morrigan's, and I might get Nic a longer one in the same style.

All these plans, its going to be fun!

F60 Nanuris

The Nanuris are back - and they're dreaming... why does this feel so good - so "Delf" like? Also the dreaming face - there are so many dreaming dolls - some of the older dolls don't have sleeping heads - like Lishe and El, not in 60cm size until now anyway - they only had dreaming.

I don't mind either, but I'd also be completely happy not to have either.

Its the count down now - they're on the site, the prices are there... but what are the details about the event??

Evil evil evil doll makers

Fairyland are simply evil... if you missed their evil tweeting last night (or this morning or whichever... ) here it is:
@Fairyland_EN
Twt tease: Oh, so you think you are safe from all this? Tell me more about how you've been waiting for THE girl since the CON.
cont: (That girl, seems like will be available in FL version -not the artist ver.- which was released in MNF size some time ago :-)
Twt Tease2: And a call, for older sculpt lovers! Coz, you wants it. You needs it. You must have the precious.
Translation:
  1. Fairyland is going to release an F60 Mirwen - possibly within this release. (there is a suggestion that there are three new F60 releases... the F60 Chloe, the F60 Karsh and possibly an F60 Mirwen.) Note: it is the MIRWEN, not the VF doll... they are not exactly the same thing - the VF doll includes the wig/faceup/outfit, the whole shebang. The F60 Mirwen will not - it will have to have a different faceup and a different fullset (if she gets a fullset).
  2. Older sculpts... and FL’s rep referring to us as Gollum. I completely agree! I am Gollum... I wants, needs, the precious - a new Lishe, or Breakaway... mmm, CP’s older sculpts... precious...
I did find this tweet (in response to a question about an F60 Pong) vastly amusing and not surprising in the least...
“But nope, no more Pongpong due to the bad sales figure of LTF Pongpong despite piles of request to make one.”
Come on, who didn’t see that one coming? I wonder if the sales figures on the LTF Chiwoos are the same? (encoded: please please please no more Chiwoos!)
I wish Fairyland/CP would take in my requests (other than the fact they already have with the new F60).... as follows:
  1. MNF Elf/Elf Vampire Lishe... surely we’ve waited long enough??
  2. MNF Breakaway - just cause it would be so fun to have a basic (and follow him with the Elf/VE release too)
  3. F65 Lishe & Breakaway or El
  4. LTF Elf Lishe...
  5. PKF Lishe... cause I wants one, I needs one... I needs the precious!

Sculpt changes

Wow...  I really think I need to stop reading some threads on DoA... some of the comments tempt me to make further rant-y posts... it also makes me wish that I had caved and bought an F65 so I could make my point even clearer when people keep thinking that the new F60 is going to have a carbon copy body to that of the F65.

*sighs* I suppose they're easily confused... CP sculpting two lines which deviate so much from their normal aesthetic that people seem unable to separate them. I have had this conversation twice in my previous rant-y posts about bodies and aesthetics and why the F60 would be a Delf rather than a 5 cm shorter F65.

It seems so easy to see that the F65, and the F70 & F60s are so different. Like comparing Chiclines and Minifee I pointed out to someone... ironically they haven't bothered to respond to my response to them... one wonders why.

That and people have started to attempt to figure out what an F60 Chloe will look like... (like a MNF Chloe people, like a LTF Chloe... NOT like an F65 Chloe.) Chicline and MNF... so I thought here's something I can do comparison shots on... there is no such thing as an F65 Lishe (yet), but I can show comparisons between a MNF Lishe and a Chicline Lishe, as well as between F60/Delf, MNF and LTF Lishes... not sure I want to get belted in the F60 thread yet for showing how you figure out what an F60 Chloe will look like, so I'll rant away in here!

So I went shuffling through my amass of photos looking for ones which show my Lishes front on... I wanted the most basic Lishe, which I have two of at F60 level, 1 of at MNF, 1 at CL and 1 at LTF... (after all, people may not realise that NS and Tan are exactly the same... watched that argument before too). So for MNF, CL and LTF it was fairly easy - although I really want them to be looking the same way. Its possible I will take proper comparisons at some point...

Chicline Lishe - Minifee Lishe

So MNF v CL - the Chicline is how I would expect an eventual F65 Lishe to look - with the narrower face which looks more human, rather than the disproportionally wide face of the MNF - they do share common likeness - the same shape lips, the same shape eyes and a similar nose... those elements which MUST be the same for the CL to be recognisable as a Lishe.

As for the F60/MNF/LTF argument... the similarities are obvious, given the shrinking and approximate age of each of the smaller sculpts. For example, the LTF Lishe's nose has been altered to make it more in keeping with a younger person, and her eyes have been made larger. But the mouth is the same across the entire line.

nb: I used Morrigan because she is my only unmoved "basic" F60 Lishe, even though she's on an F70 body...

I might discuss the differences between Elf and normal Lishes in a more appropriate forum... my Lished blog!

Apologies for yet another rant-y blog... I need to vent somewhere!

Feeple 60s

http://dollfairyland.tistory.com/118

YEA! I feel vindicated...!

The Feeple60 has been confirmed as an updated and renamed Delf - completely compatible with all the old heads (which will be released gradually by FL)... it makes me feel so much better that all those people who created the rant-y post earlier have been proven wrong... as terrible as that makes me, lol.

Although, someone attempted to tell me that the old dolls would still be called Delfs even though everything was being resold as F60s... they were yelled at by a few other people than just me, thankfully.

Now someone is attempting to tell me that F70s and F60s have different proportions. *sighs* It makes me want to burst into rant again...

I am attempting to be restrained, but still peeved off, since she's telling me that I don't know the proportions of my own dolls... Anyway.

The question really is now - WHO is are the new dolls - prevailing thought is the girl is a Chloe... I'm thinking the boy is a Lewi since they mentioned that they were upgrading both MNF and LTF sculpts.

The other question is ...

Which of the older heads will be released? the originals - Chiwoo/Shiwoo/Lishe/El etc... or the newer ones like Jess, Edgar and Harang??

the Body Debate

This is an older ranty post which has some baring on the new F60 debate, and plus I never had a chance to post it... ;)
There are a few interesting things coming up in conversation about the bodies of some dolls. I managed to get into a conversation about the types of bodies that have been crafted by CP. I said that the F70/Delf and Minifee bodies were the same aesthetically, while the F65 and Chicline were the same - that would leave the LittleFee, Pukifee, PukiPuki and RealPuki in the same boat in much the same way.
I was told off. I'm not really sure why, I would have thought it obvious from the style, joint positioning etc that it was fairly obvious... But then people don't always see the obvious, do they?
Anyway. I was also told off for suggesting that the F65 and ChicLine were similar aesthetically as well, which I also thought was a fairly easy thing to see. That would be why they made them when they already have both MSDs and SD-SSDs. What would be the purpose of making another doll of the same style as a doll you already have if it was very close and similar to one you already have? Admittedly, Iplehouse has done it, but then Iplehouse only make one sort of doll and to make it in different sizes (which I believe for the most part aren't hybrid-able) isn't going to take money from them.
CP line up male/female + (MNF bline/aline), without F65s (don't have one :( )

CP currently makes a large range of dolls:
  1. The Feeple 70: the prototype doll where they tested all the jointing that would later be put into the Delf.
  2. The Feeple 65: a more realistic doll more in keeping with the styles of the Iplehouses and SOOM Idealian and Mega Gem. The body is larger and wider than an F70, while the face is narrower. (in proportion)
  3. The Delf: CPs 60cm SD which has been sold by Luts since its conception. Its head is able to be hybrided onto the F70 and vise versa. Delfs are very similar to the F70 in looks. (Currently not available for sale)
  4. Minifee: a smaller version of a Delf, the MNF is popular. There are two body types, the older B-line and the much more updated and posable A-line.
  5. Chic-line: smaller than a MNF, the CL has a smaller/narrower head, a wider body (in the case of the boys) and different jointing. MNF and LTF heads can be hybrided onto CL bodies. (but not vise versa)
  6. Little Fee: the YoSD, they are well jointed and very posable.
  7. Pukifee: smaller than a yo, the pukifee are well known for their bobble heads. They can also have a smaller multihead.
  8. PukiPuki: the oldest tiny created, the Pukipuki are still on a single jointed body. They can also have the multihead attached.
  9. RealPuki: the newest Tinies, the RealPuki only stands 9.5cm. PukiPuki faceplates can be hybrided onto RealPukis.
RealPuki   Pukifee   Little Fee
PukiPuki and Multihead with Puki body

Of the smaller dolls (LittleFee, Pukifee, PukiPuki and RealPuki), the Puki is the oldest, it still has single jointed elbows and knees and a single joint in the torso. The other three follow a very similar formula: each has double jointed elbows and knees, each has a mobility joint in the thigh (RealPukis have them in the upper arm as well), and each has two joints in the body, one at the breastbone and the other at the hips. All three sizes also have magnetic hands and feet.
All  of the smaller sizes follow a similar aesthetic, decidedly anime, with large heads - although in slightly different proportions - the pukifee is decidedly out of proportion as is the Real Puki.
The larger dolls fall into two different categories- those which have the same aesthetic as the smaller dolls, and those who don't.
The F70, Delf and Minifee are similar to the smaller dolls, while the F65 and ChicLine do not.
Feeple70, Delf and Minifee
MNF B-line female, Delf female Type 1 (torso joint)
The bodies of these follow a fairly easy data-ble line. The oldest bodies are the Delf Types 1&2 and the Minifee B-line. In the middle is the Delf Type 3 male and the F70s, while the Minifee A-lines are the newest.
I say this for several reasons. The original Delf bodies and MNF B-lines share similar characteristics. Both have single jointed elbows and knees and both have a single torso joint. The Minifee B-line's body joint, along with the Delf bodies released with the neck mechanism (sometimes simply called Type 2s) are at the hip, while the other bodies have them at the chest. (the shapes of the elbow and knee joints in single joint Delfs and Bline MNF are the same)

F70 female, Delf female Type 1

The F70s and Type 3s both have double jointed elbows and knees - with distinct 'caps' in the knee joint (which is duplicated in the smaller Pukifee and RealPukis). This is the only real difference between them and earlier bodies.

MNF B-line large bust; MNF A-line large bust
The Minifee A-line bodies are most definitely one step ahead of the others. The joints in their elbows have been updated from those in the Feeple70 (which have a tendency to turn around in the socket) while their 'capped' knees move more freely. The main differences are the additions of a double jointed body- one just below the breast (higher than in Delfs or Feeple70s) and one at the hips, which doubles the range of motion and flexibility from the older B-lines. They also include caps in the hip socket to broaden the range of motion and a mobility joint cut into the upper thigh. (B-line MNF can also have this cap)
Chic line and Feeple65

MNF A-line female, MNF A-line male, Chicline male

The main differences between the male muscular and non-muscular Chic line and the corresponding MNF Bodies is the style - the Chic line male is broader and shorter and has a different construction of abs and musculature, making a more realistic appearance rather than the stylized MNF. The hands, feet and head are smaller, as well as employing magnets on the feet. This stylistic difference is repeated through the female versions. The other main difference is the construction of the joints, mainly the knee joints. Chiclines do not have the distinctive cap, rather a construction rather like the LTF. This hides the cap, but also makes way for an ability to disjoint the doll at the knee, revealing a well hidden O ring.

MNF A-line, F65 female (sorry no C-line comparison)
The female Chiclines have more differences between them and their MNF counterparts. The female C-line does not have a hip joint, and the construction and shape of the hips, waist and upper thighs is considerably different to that of the MNF - giving a much more feminine and realistic shape. Their hands and feet are significantly smaller, as is the body and height - from their MNF counterparts and the male Chicline.
Take into account the new owner pics of nude F65 females and males and the similarities between them become more obvious.

non-muscular males: C-line and F65
Females: C-line, F65

the boys in particular glaring similarities - the same elbow joint, the same knee joint, the shape of the torso, position of the torso joint, general shape of the torso/lower abdomen piece. The girls share less similarities - they have the same body construction with a narrow hip and waist and no lower abdomen joint; they have the same shape boobs - however the girls have two major differences - the Chicline has a mobility joint in the thigh while the F65 does not, and the F65 shares the same knee construction as an F70.

So that is the end of my rant. Probably not the end of my rant-y posts though, I'm sure another will pop up sometime. You can chose to believe me, you can chose not to, really its up to you.

The Slow-down: 2016-2019

Wow. I used to collect a lot, and now, I don't do a lot of collecting at all. My collection has slowed to a crawl - some of it is prob...
