Dig yourself a hole...

So how do you know you're in trouble when it comes to a doll? That its now on the list to be bought - perhaps as soon as possible, if you're really lucky or have a really short list, or that it has been added to a rather long list.

Sometimes its because of the company photos - with dolls like SOOM MDs, this is the only way to pick one if you want it new. Sometimes you just have to look at the image that the company has spent hours slaving over and know that you have to have this doll. You don't have the luxury of waiting for owner pics, because it immediately becomes harder (and vastly more expensive 90% of the time) to get that doll.

With non-limited dolls, it can be someone else's doll that you see and think - Wow... that's a doll I would love. It can be the faceup, the outfit or the general conception of the doll that sells you. Sometimes you can be lucky enough to be able to buy that doll.

The final nail in my own coffin is always the name. There has been only one exception to this - my Soom Shoshon took longer to name than usual, which is most unlike most of my dolls. Frequently my dolls have picked their names and often their personalities before they arrive.

If I name a doll, 99% of the time it will at some point join my doll collection. It may take me a while, but it will join my collection. So I do my best not to name a doll until I know I'm going to buy it - it doesn't always work... but if I do name them, it puts me in a spot of trouble.

Take Hades. I was looking for him on the MP for a long time and since he was named and I couldn't find someone willing to sell a faceplate to me, I got in a lot of trouble from Hades (he is more than a little bit of a pain) and ended up having to buy a doll to get him.

Then there was a Pipos Alice Jr that I had my eye on, which would have completed my Alice set - along with Angelu and Violet. I was debating whether or not I could buy her, and she named herself Emmeline, but before I could say yes to the buyer, she was sold. That was disappointing, and now I have a character called Emmeline sitting loose in my mind waiting for a possible doll to take her.

So when the question of NS/WS symmetry in my Pukifee army came up, I tried my best not to name them. But I had a spot of free time yesterday and decided to try and find names for the unnamed members on my Fairyland list. This included a RealPuki Aki, a Chic-line Lishe, a Minifee Chloe and a Minifee Eliya. My RealPuki size are Celtic deities, while the Minifee & Chicline are Roman.

So I went and searched through my usual sites to find some possible names - I quickly stopped looking for a name for the Aki, as I wasn't sure whether or not it would be a boy or a girl, (I would think a boy, but I left it for now).

So I found a number of possible names for the girls and decided on three names - the Chicline Lishe will be Diana Ceres while the Chloe and Eliya will be Nox Luna and Pax Nerio - not that I know which will be which.

But instead of stopping there, I instead went onto a site with a list of Egyptian deities... for Pukifee. How silly am I? I was not intending to add another two to my list even for the sake of symmetry.

I fell into the naming trap. The WS Bonnie, most likely with a Sweet Bunny faceup, will be called Neith Sekhmet and the WS Zoe will be called Anhur Qebui. Damn. That means I have to get them now.... not sure if I'm sorry or not.

The Slow-down: 2016-2019

Wow. I used to collect a lot, and now, I don't do a lot of collecting at all. My collection has slowed to a crawl - some of it is prob...
