BAs... the extension

I have noticed that my post about my Breakaways has been my most popular post on this entire blog. I wasn't sure why, my roommate said it was probably because people didn't have much information on BAs. Then I reread my post on them and realised I left some of the story untold.

So as you already know, I have 5 BAs - one Feeple - Arawn, a Scar MNF called Vulcan and three LittleFee, Hades, Poseidon and Zeus. I have decided not to attempt to collect the original Luts dolls, as that would take me ages, and make a lot of trouble for myself. Plus, I already have a collection of Lishes which is half finished and I didn't need to get myself into more trouble attempting to complete a collection of BAs.

Whether or not this resolution will be broken, I don't know. So far I have managed to stop myself from buying a number of very nice BAs from the previous sales of his sculpt.

For those interested, there have been 3 Luts versions of the BA, all of them limited sale dolls.

1. Limited Delf Breakaway - with OE and open mouthed sleeping vampire head
2. Count Verre Breakaway Delf Art Fullset, limited to 20 - with an OE and vampire sleeping head. (there are no fangs on the OE head)
3. Bloody Valentine Breakaway fullset, again with OE and vampire sleeping heads.

Fairyland have released the Breakaway three times

1. Midnight Blue and Midnight Sun fullsets (two outfits/dolls) Feeple70s, which cames with an OE, a Dreaming Eye and a Sleeping head (no vamp fangs though).
2. Minifee Scar head, as an event item in 2009, plus a sleeping Scar head released for another event later in the year.
3. LittleFee/L-line as an event item for the Chicline Event in 2010.

The reasons as to not chosing to find the previous Luts BA heads is simple - finding heads with default faceups for a reasonable price is virtually impossible. Due to this problem, I am also unlike to search far and wide for the only BA head from the Fairyland releases that I am missing (if I don't count the Midnight Sun and Midnight Blue faceups as different heads), which is the Dreaming head.

If I collected like I do the Lishes, the list would need to be the following:

1. Limited Breakaway, OE and open mouth-ed sleeping Vampire head
2. Count Verre fullset, OE and sleeping Vampire heads - WITH faceups and outfits, default wig, shoes etc etc.
3. Bloody Valentine fullset: OE and sleeping Vampire heads, WITH faceup and outfit, wig, shoes etc.
4. Midnight Sun Feeple70 fullset/Midnight Blue fullset, OE, dreaming and sleeping heads, with faceup, outfit, wig etc
5. Minifee Scar Breakaway OE head.
6. Minifee Scar Breakaway sleeping head
7. L-line/Little Fee Breakaway head

A bit too much for me on top of a 8-doll plus collection of Lishes. (for more information on the Lishes in general and my journey for a complete collection in particular, head over to my Lishe blog: Lished )

That would be why, currently, my BA collection is limited to the newer releases from Fairyland, barring any releases yet to come (possible Chic line release or smaller... which would be interesting...). I did the other day see a Luts BA with a default Bloody Valentine faceup, which was tempting, but I'm currently in a doll freeze.

So back to my story - I now have all three of my Little Fee boys, Hades, Poseidon and Zeus. They are not all faceuped - only Hades has been finished, and they do not all have bodies. They do all have clothes, wigs and eyes and have all had their photos taken. In the last couple of weeks, Poseidon received his body. Sometime this year I am also planning to make sure that Hades and Zeus also receive bodies.

Vulcan has also received his body, although one of the MNF Chest pieces went missing, so while he can wear his two scar arms, he is missing his scar chest piece.

Arawn is still a head, and while I have the 60cm dragon arm for him, I have been a bit indecisive about whether or not to get him a Feeple70 like I originally planned, or to hybrid him onto a new Feeple65 body.  I haven't seen enough owner pics of Delf/Feeple heads on F65 bodies to make a choice as to whether or not a Feeple65 is a good idea. Arawn thinks its fantastic, simply because the F65 body is more ripped than the F70. He would not be able to wear his dragon arm with an F65 body however.

So, other than collecting bodies (doesn't that sound good??) my BA collecting has reached a quiet pause. I have my boys (and hopefully Fairyland won't release any more that I must get for a while) and they are vaguely content.

Should I.... or shouldn't I??

I really really like the new Fabilis. I love the new tan, which is so much lighter than the old CP tan and the choco-pukis. I like his outfit and his anubis head, even though I can't see myself using it. I like the Pharaoh hat and the staff.

But I had promised myself that I wouldn't buy a doll this month.

If I did buy him, he would have to go on layby (if I could right now, I'd simply pay for him outright.)
Layby means needing to deal with DDE and adding a couple of weeks to a month onto the end of his possible shipping time to cope with the fact he would need to go from Korea to the US, then back to Australia.

I don't know if they'll continue selling him in Tan once his fullset is sold out, so I don't know if I can simply buy him later. Plus if I want the Anubis head, I need to get him before May 30.

So I suppose the question is... should I.... or shouldn't I??

*sigh*

Sometimes I really dislike doll companies, usually SOOM. MDs are not what I need to see half the time. Luckily (touch wood) since the Shoshon, I have been safe from all the MDs, including the newest two (with their completely ridiculous wings on shoulder idea).

Currently it's my other favourite company to hate... Fairyland. They have introduced a new line of dolls called "Fairy's Atelier", which is similar to SOOMs MDs. They have released two new dolls, both Chiclines in this line. (if you would like to see the girl, Ineffa, she's here: http://dollfairyland.com/shop/step1.php?number=822)

One is a male gent called "Fabilis" who has been styled by the artist to look like an Egyptian Pharaoh. To make matter worse, he is also in a very nice tan colour. Not the old tan CP/Fairyland used to do, the tan of Chocopukis and the Delf and Minifee Tanning dolls. From the looks of him, he's a tan a lot closer to a DZ Tan, a nice even colour.

I don't own a tan doll - even when I have had a choice between having NS and having Tan - with Magnus, Cassius and Pallus, I have always picked the NS doll. The only tan dolls I had planned to get was the Tanning Delf Lishe and the Tanning MNF Lishe, but even then, only if I could find them, eventually.

I am actually considering getting a tan doll for the doll itself, even though he does come in NS and white...

Scary thought...

In other news - I have ordered and paid for Sol's new wig, which will be the darker red short version. And I have also finally finished paying off Pallus, and he's on before shipping. Cross fingers he turns up soon!

Wigs...

Ok, so Sol Invictus arrived and he is gorgeous.

his wig on the other hand, is not. I dislike the bulk, the style and the length and it makes him look more than a little ridiculous.

So I have to think of a new wig to get him and what colour.

I briefly debated some Leekeworld wigs, but ended up with the styles that Hades and Poseidon wear... which is a bit of a no-no. Therefore I moved to Luts and have come up with two options - both in red.

Any suggestions??

pause... wait a minute

So I was squeeing a little while ago, and then I had to stop to think.

What is Sol going to wear when he gets here?? I know I have his wig (somewhere) as I bought it the same time I bought Ianthe's newer wig, although I'm not massively sure where it is, it should be in my wig box.

But what about clothes? I honestly don't think I have any MNF boy clothes...

Yes, Vulcan is here, but Vulcan owns very little - the marshpants he's wearing, his boots, his flag, his sword and his dubloon necklace. Because he has to have exactly the same clothes as Gallagher, its not like I can just buy him anything.

Bellona Lua also has clothing, but she has had quite a number of things for quite a while and my other three MSD boys - well... there's Argus and Corvinus... both of them wear their default outfits and they're not slim minis. Of course, other than their default outfits, they don't have any more clothes.

And my other boy is well, Janus and he's a chic-line. Admittedly, he is wearing a pair of MNF pants, but I can't strip Janus to outfit Sol.

The reason I haven't thought about this earlier was because I was originally going to buy Sol in his fullset, which would of course immediately cancel the need for immediate clothing to be ready when he arrived, simply because he would arrive with clothing.

This didn't happen because I am adopting Sol from a very nice FL household and he's coming without any attachments other than himself and his eyes (and possibly a pair of glasses).

I did a bit of trawling of Etsy, but you have the same problem as you do for Pukifee boys - LOTS of Etsy sellers make clothes for girls (and I would love to have Pax, Nox and Aera Cera so I can outfit some more hip/cutesy girls - which Bellona Lua most decidedly isn't) but there is little to nothing on Etsy for MNF boys.

There are some nice jeans, for a good $40, but other than that, I can't see a single thing that I would want Sol wearing (and he doesn't seem all that impressed either.). So then I went to the next step - I had a trawl (briefly) through the Marketplace on DoA... again, I can see the same problem that I first noticed. While plenty of people are selling clothing for MNF girls, there is again very little for MNF boys.

(oh, and of course Brennil/Her Delicate Strength is currently closed for commissions).

So now what? I have a boy arriving in a week or so, possibly two, and I have nothing for him to wear! (except a pair of leather trousers I remember just this morning that will fit him, although they're part of a fullset outfit and he can't wear them forever)

So for those of you with slim mini boys, where did you buy your clothing? And what am I going to do? Sol isn't Vulcan, he doesn't relish sitting around naked, nor does he want to be relegated to his box until he gets clothes!

So I'm squeeing at the moment, Sol has been paid off and will be coming home soon... YEY!

Then, after paying off Pallus (who only has one payment left... yey!) I will be going on a bit of a dolly-buying hiatus...

Oh, and Poseidon should have his body sometime this week, although perhaps not his faceup finished...

Mistakes

How many times can one order be stuffed up??

Towards the end of last year, my housemate and I placed an order through DDE, in that order was the following:

1. 1 Pukifee Sweet Bunny Ante Fullset in WS with Sleeping face and faceup
2. 1 Pukifee Alice Luna fullset WS with sleeping face and faceup
3. 1 Pukifee Luna basic NS with sleeping face and faceup

As I was ordering during the event period, I asked for the MNF Chest piece in NS as my event item.

Then begins the stuff ups.

When the order arrived, they managed to send my Pukifee Luna NS without its faceup-ed sleeping face, but not only that, they had also sent the MNF Sword and Sheild in WS rather than my Chest piece.

I emailed them back and told them of their error. They proclaimed that my order had been the most stuffed up in the entire year and they would be able to get me both items. Did I want my chest piece mailed with my Pukifee Luna SP (which they had to ask Fairyland to make).

I replied no.

My MNF Chest piece in NS arrived a week or so later with no more hassle. Then I had to wait for my Nephthys' sleeping face.

And I waited.

I finally got an email that they had received and sent out the faceplate. I was very relieved, and waited for it to arrive.

Finally it did, and I happily unwrapped it. Then stopped. Stared... considered.

They had sent me a LittleFee faceplate (what I presumed was a Luna - as it was all wrapped in plastic and bubble wrap and I couldn't be stuffed opening it up). I emailed them again and asked (rather sarcastically) how they could have sent me a LittleFee faceplate rather than the Pukifee one I had ordered.

They claimed that it had been Fairyland that had stuffed up (after asking me to clarify my problem...???) I asked if I should send the LTF faceplate - they replied that I could keep it (although what for??) and they would attempt to get Fairyland to send my faceplate direct.

I finally got another email saying that it had been sent. As of this date, it has not arrived.

However, today I decided to open up the LTF faceplate bag so I could take some photos of it, in order to to sell it.

I took it out of the bag. I tore off the bubble wrap and peeled back the paper. And stared.

Turned it over, checked the back and showed my housemate.

What I had thought was a Luna LTF sleeping faceplate with faceup... was in fact an ANTE LittleFee faceplate with faceup.

I am wondering, how on earth did I get an ANTE, when I asked for the LUNA. I can kind of understand (with great difficultly) how I could get a LTF version of a PKF sculpt... but how the hell could Luna become Ante?

Is there someone somewhere, who had their Ante faceplate forgotten and got a Luna instead? Or did DDE and Fairyland just manage to stuff this up even more royally?

I wonder... should I await an Ante PKF sleeping faceplate? Or expect what I ordered in the first place??

- oh I simply want a Fairyland dealer this side of the Pacific who offers layby. PLEASE.
